Hvar is the island of wine, its beautiful landscape is shaped by the vineyards.
Indigenous varieties are grown in the Hvar Wine Region such as Plavac mali, Bogdanuša, Prč, Darnekuša, Pošip, and many more.
Its long history of winemaking began more than 24 centuries ago, and has marked the life of the islanders. The festival “Hvar otok vina” – Hvar, Island of Wine will be held on May 10 & 11 in Hvar town to celebrate this long tradition of winemaking on the Island as a part of the Celebration of the 150th Anniversary of organised tourism on Hvar.

This Master Class will describe white wines produced on the island, both monovarietal and blends, of varieties such as Bogdanuša , Prč, Pošip, Maraština, from the cellars of Tomić, Carić, PZ Svirče. Brača Plančić, Vujnović and Zlatan Otok-Plenković.

Roberto Lepori is an Italian sommelier, wine journalist (La Cucina Italiana, Papageno, Vitae and others) and a wine judge: Città del Vino “La Selezione del Sindaco” in Italy; Franciacorta in Villa in Italy; Sangiovese Purosangue contest in Italy; International Wine Challange in England; The Michelangelo Wine and Spirit Awards in South Africa; International Wine Competition “Southern Russia” in Russia; BeoWine in Serbia; Montevino Competition in Montenegro; RoWine in Romania; Balkan International Wine Competition in Bulgaria, and others.
Roberto often works with Network Television on the themes of food, and wine and has produced and interpreted documentary films on tourism and travel.
This Master Class will decribe the fascinating story of the history of Plavac Mali and its ancestors, that traveled across the Adriatic sea and far away across the ocean.
Thanks to a collaboration with Assoenologi sezione Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria (National Association of the Enologists and Enotechnicians of Italy) we will have the opportunity to taste some of the best Primitivo wines that represent different terroirs of the Apulia region:

Important anniversaries in 2018
160th anniversary of the meteorological station on Hvar, one of the oldest in Europe and the 160th anniversary of the birth of the inventor of dactyloscopy, Ivan Vucetic of Hvar.
