(Hall of Jelsa Municipality, Jelsa). This event was conceived as a story about the specifics of the island of Hvar as a wine region, with an emphasis on the native Hvar varieties.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Hvar indigenous wines selection<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hvar-otok-vina.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/indigenous-Hvar.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-716\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hvar-otok-vina.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/indigenous-Hvar-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"indigenous Hvar \" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hvar-otok-vina.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/indigenous-Hvar-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.hvar-otok-vina.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/indigenous-Hvar-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hvar-otok-vina.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/indigenous-Hvar-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.hvar-otok-vina.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/indigenous-Hvar-624x351.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 625px) 100vw, 625px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The wines produced of the varieties<strong> bogdanu\u0161a, pr\u010d, mekuja and darneku\u0161a<\/strong> were tasted and commented by <strong>Sini\u0161a Kocei\u0107<\/strong> and <strong>Alen Gulan<\/strong>, wine experts. \u00a0Wine tour guides, restaurant owners and others who work in wine tourism and gastronomy sectors were present and have learned more about these Hvar varieties, some of which are produced in very small quantities.<\/p>\n<p>Mekuja variety can be found in different white blends of the Hvar Island wines, but only 100%<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Mekuja Hulji\u0107<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hvar-otok-vina.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Mekuja-Hulji\u0107.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-717\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hvar-otok-vina.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Mekuja-Hulji\u0107-687x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Mekuja Hulji\u0107\" width=\"625\" height=\"932\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hvar-otok-vina.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Mekuja-Hulji\u0107-687x1024.jpg 687w, https:\/\/www.hvar-otok-vina.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Mekuja-Hulji\u0107-201x300.jpg 201w, https:\/\/www.hvar-otok-vina.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Mekuja-Hulji\u0107-768x1144.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.hvar-otok-vina.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Mekuja-Hulji\u0107-624x930.jpg 624w, https:\/\/www.hvar-otok-vina.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Mekuja-Hulji\u0107.jpg 1488w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 625px) 100vw, 625px\" \/><\/a>Mekuja is produced by <strong>OPG Teo Hulji\u0107<\/strong>. This white variety is grown in small quantities, and traditionaly on the borders of the vineyards planted with other varieties.<\/p>\n<p>A red indigenous variety of Hvar Island, Darneku\u0161a inspired\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Jo Ahearne<\/strong>, one of the leading wine experts in the world, to make her first Hvar wine, <strong>Rosina<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This red Hvar variety grows on the higher parts of the island near the peak of St. Nikola and gives lighter wines such as<strong> Dubokovi\u0107 Laganini<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Rosina &amp; Laganini &#8211; two faces of the variety Darneku\u0161a<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hvar-otok-vina.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/darneku\u0161a.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-718\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hvar-otok-vina.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/darneku\u0161a-1024x687.jpg\" alt=\"darneku\u0161a\" width=\"625\" height=\"419\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hvar-otok-vina.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/darneku\u0161a-1024x687.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.hvar-otok-vina.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/darneku\u0161a-300x201.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hvar-otok-vina.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/darneku\u0161a-768x516.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.hvar-otok-vina.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/darneku\u0161a-624x419.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 625px) 100vw, 625px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pr\u010d<\/strong> is a variety of origin from the area around Su\u0107uraj, today is produced by wineries <strong>Pinjata and Vujnovi\u0107<\/strong>. Pr\u010d is known as a white variety that can survive extreme climate and soil conditions.
