HVAR WINE TASTINGS – DIVINO – HVAR – 07.08.2023. 9PM- in front of Loggia (hotel Palace)

In the fundamental role that food has always assumed in the history of every civilization, a primary place belongs to wine, especially in the lands bordering the Mediterranean basin.

Only to the wine are attributed the sacramental meaning and even thaumaturgical powers, as well as its own independent life, exalting the irrational aspect of communication, of the daily or festive ritual, of which wine has been the “high priest” for centuries.

Let us take you to this magical world of wine with a glass of Hvar wine in your hand while listening to verses inspired by wine throughout the centuries!

Viticurtural Collection Pitve

VITICULTURAL COLLECTION IN PITVE- HVAR ISLAND

New

The Viticultural Collection, founded in 1989, was re-established in the renovated building of the former elementary school in Pitve, and the new permanent exhibition was opened on 28/02/2023.

This new museum space was designed with the desire to combine the story of traditional viticulture on the island of Hvar with the organoleptic properties of contemporary Hvar wines, so it will offer its audience the possibility of themed wine tastings along with a tour of the museum.

The collection contains traditional tools for working the land, working in the vineyard and the tavern, equipment for the production and preservation of wine, as well as an inventory of traditional kitchens characteristic of the second half of the 19th and the first half of the 20th century. It is presented and contextualized in relation to local types of land and methods of its cultivation, cultivation and maintenance of vines, wine production and the organization of the life of the agricultural community.

In view of the radical changes in the traditional way of tilling the soil and wine production, which began in the middle of the last century and continue even today, a kind of extension of the museum exhibition was made by arranging the tasting room. Namely, this multipurpose hall offers the possibility of presenting future gatherings of material and research, as well as current affairs from the wine world, either through exhibitions, lectures or some other form of occasional public activities.

Today, the Viticultural Collection is part of the Municipal Museum of Jelsa, and its new permanent exhibition is the result of the renovation of the building and collection with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia and the Municipality of Jelsa. https://muzejopcinejelsa.hr/
